Caring for your Venetian Blinds PDF Print E-mail

  • Clean Venetian blinds frequently to avoid dirty build up. If you don’t have time for a thorough cleaning, at least dust them. Even closing the blinds and running a duster over them weekly will make a difference.
  • Use a damp soft cloth. Gently wipe each slat from the cords or ladder towards the centre. This will prevent the dust building up on and around the cords and ladders.

  • A pair of cotton mitts or gloves can also be used to clean Venetian blinds.

  • If you splash some grease or cooling oil on the kitchen blinds. Using a weak solution of washing up liquid and warm water, gently clean with a damp soft cloth. Rinse well.
  • The slats should be in the horizontal position when raising or lowering the blind.
  • If you have dogs and they like to look out of the window. Raise the blind enough so they don't get tangled in the blind and damage it.
  • Don't use any abrasive cleaners. *Don't use any bleach or products that contain bleach.
  • Don't use any produce that contains ammonia. *Don't use oil on the tilt mechanism.
